In the PC world, used hardware follows a sort-of inverse Moores Law; every 18 months,
a computer loses half it’s resale value (if not sooner). So, I’m in a marked for a
used Mac. I’m thinking about a G4 Cube, or an older G4 powerbook. These
models are 3-4 years old by now, and should cost like 25% of their original cost,
right? No, it seems like it takes 4-5 years old Mac hardware lose half it’s resale
value.
For SEK 5000 (around $650) I can maybe get an old G4 (non-cube,
ie noisy) with no monitor, or a G3 powerbook that won’t run OSX at any speed faster
than crawling. That’s just insane.
